Paper-Scissors-Rock robot with 100% winning rate

So I wanted to post about this robot developed at Tokyo Uni’s Ishikawa Oku Laboratory that uses a high-speed camera to predict how a human hand moves during a game of paper-scissors-rock, allowing it to react within one millisecond…

But then I scrolled down to see the youtube comments and as always, they’re the wonderful antithesis of horror and hilarity.

Finally! Meet the Pyro…

It’s only taken five years since the release of Team Fortress 2 and the debut of their awesome “Meet the…” promo shorts, but “Meet the Pyro” has finally been released and it is oh so darkly funny.

Burt Talks to the Bees: Worker Bees

In association with Burt’s Bees, Isabella Rossellini has made three educational shorts, the first on the behaviours of worker bees.

The second on the nympho queen bee.

And finally the lowly male drone who makes up only 1% of the colony.

If you’re already familiar Isabella Rossellini’s Green Porno, then this won’t seem too odd; but if you’re not, well, welcome aboard to the bizarre and awesome world of Rossellini’s educational short film series.

Green Porno is a series of short films written and directed by Rossellini, where she reenacts the mating rituals of various animals and insects in a format that’s both visually entertaining, educational and often enough disturbing (example: whales).

Mars: Curiosity – Seven Minutes of Terror

Whilst the music is somewhat of a pretty over-dramatic Inception knock-off (which consequently detracts from the overall message), this video just released from NASA demonstrates the complex multitude of stages that their 890 kilograms Curiosity rover will have to go through in order to land on Mars surface in August. Even ignoring the at times jarring music, this shit looks to be one awesome (and nail-biting) feat of engineering.
