Some Post-Birthday Boosh

Had a pretty damn good birthday shindig and many thanks to all who came along to celebrate. This week will see me enjoying the rockin’ sounds of Ryan Adams and drinking a farewell to a friend who’s jumping across the ditch to Australia just cause he can. The crazy bastard.

My friend Fin has resumed blogging again to which the world gives praise to Robot Jesus for. Commence reading his sultry words here at https://findlaydonnan.wordpress.com/. There’s a birthday post somewhere he made for me that includes a video of me some years back. I’m not gonna directly link to it, cause I’m passively embarrassed like that, but feel free to look for it yourself.

My other friend Joe also sent me this, it’s actually intended for Christmas, but his powers of procrastination can rival mine at times, so I’m gonna post it like its a birthday thing.

Actually, I also got sent this by Shoshana, originally taken during my birthday party. Don’t ask. I’m not even sure what I could give as an answer.

And finally, here’s a three cello rendition of The Final Countdown. Boosh!

More of Our Doomed Planet

Pregnant teen drink driver does a runner

Police pulled the girl over on Saturday night and she recorded a level of 766 micrograms per litre of breath – more than five times the legal limit for her age of 150mcg.

Earlier in the week she had recorded a level of 828mcg – six times the legal limit – after she was spotted driving erratically.

Drought warning as the tropics expand

Reichler says that the expansion of the subtropics is more feared than the widening of the tropical zone itself. While the tropical belt is hot and humid, the subtropics suffer from severe drought. The Sahara and Sahel are both subtropical regions.

Dancing asteroid spirals close to Earth

The Earth had company this week when an asteroid practically grazed the planet – passing by just 400,000 miles away. That’s less than twice the distance of the Earth to the Moon.

What I’ve Been Watching: Frisky Dingo

The most awesome new adult swim cartoon of recent years. It’s so hard to describe and to pin point where exactly in all the crazy randomness lies the awesome, so I can only say that it is all awesome. Rather than a scene, here’s a compilation video of their use of the word “boosh”.

It’s like kakow.

More Doom For You

Had a very nice pleasant birthday yesterday. Got woken up by my half naked friend and taken out to lunch. Thankfully, he put his shirt on at least for that. Spent the afternoon with friends. Had a nice dinner with the family and chilled out with the flatmates for the rest of the night.

About to head up to Auckland to hang with more friends and watch Slumdog Millionaire, which I certainly can’t wait to see and should really get going at this point. Be back tomorrow to hold a birthday party, which could potentially be the last one at my current house, but there will be more on that in another post.

Just thought I’d link an article to the Turritopsis nutricula, an immortal jellyfish that reverts back to polyp (baby) stage after reproducing. It’s also a new candidate for future lord supreme overlord master of our species, just behind the alien invaders, robot army and fighting leprechauns. You heard it here first.

What’s awesome?

A Japanese Obama action figure. With inter changeable ties, weapons, a microphone, American flag and what’s that? Lightsabers you say? I’ll take three.

And catching up on some 30 Rock, here’s the best scene from season two and Alec Balwin at his finest…

Totally awesome news… Coming soon: 3D porn.

Some strange news from Germany… German Woman Missing 12 Years Found Alive in Swiss Woods and then German crash-lands car on church roof.

Praise science… Alcohol stops men being a flop in bed.

Rock on science… Methane pockets may narrow search for Mars life.

Damn science… Our world may be a giant hologram.

And party because I hate you… From Warren Ellis’ site is the I Did Not Need To See That Imagethread (Jan 09). And you really don’t need to. You’ll be saying “Fuck you internet” like I tend to do way too often.

Finally Back Bitches

So I had a holiday and at the end of it was like, man, back to work and I suppose I should get back to blogging. But then I decided that I liked being on holiday, so decided to take a little more of a break from the internet and blogging in general. But then that holiday just turned into laziness and hence why I’m now weeks overdue on posting anything. Go me.

So things have certainly been happening. Two lots of friends have finished their film shoots over the new years. The good folk at Downending films filmed the bulk of their Kaikahu Road and I look forward to seeing some filmstuff from them soon. From what second hand talks I’ve heard, they’ve just got a few pick ups to do a few months down the track, but they managed to shoot the bulk of a feature film in less than two weeks and that certainly says something about efficieny.

Meanwhile the lads of Chasing Time productions have nearly finished their shoot of One Fat Man’s music video/experimental film thing that’s to tie in with Jeremy’s new album “a typical day in suburbia”. I’ve sneaked a peak at a little of the footage and it’s got some pretty neat-o stuff, so here’s to seeing how that goes down the line.

In other films news? Yeah, got nothing, but hey, here are two totally awesome ads. The first one from Cadbury, hot on the heels of their strange but awesome Gorilla ad is one with these freaky kids with freaky eyebrows getting their funk on. Apparently its not computer generated or anything, but watch the video for yourself and decide just how human these kids are.

The second ad for T-Mobile takes an awesome concept from the Improv Everywhere guys and applying it on a bigger scale with more people and an obvious budget and such. Hard to describe, so just click play and enjoy the fun.

Sup 2009… Hey! That’s The First Time I’ve Typed the New Year

So I’ve been tremendously enjoying my holidays and have been spending it doing pretty much nothing. Well, nothing worth blogging about. Actually, that was another thing, I had taken an unannounced break from this website as well. But I’m back now. Still on holiday for another week, but I kinda miss the blogging. Plus I’ve bookedmarked way too many things to post to leave it aside anymore.

My friend Fin’s blog Dark in the Boy seems to be discontinued now. After only a few weeks of blogging and posting stuff, the bastard had already gathered more hits than this entire site has, the bastard. But I look forward to whatever new ventures he takes in the new year. No doubt it’ll be something shiny and impressive.

The Nokia Gunphone, it’s only a photoshopped concept photo, but screw it, I want one anyway.

Terry Pratchett is now Sir Terry of Pratchett.

Lots from New Scientist, but my favourites (which are mostly compilations to other favourites are seven mysteries of Earth, seven new wonders of the world, their top 10 articles for 2008 and one that muses on the cosmos’ existence before the big bang which features a couple of my favourite theories. All this theorising almost makes you want that Large Hadron Colider to get colliding, but I’m still okay with this universe existing for now… until our robots rise up and take over. Then I say fire away.

Amazing Robocop Rap

Totally awesome. Nuff said.
