Perfect Snapshots – Pulled the Trigger at the Right Moment

Got a Kindle recently and haven’t been online or blogging as much because of it. Here’s a fun link to compensate.

Photographer: Sasaki Makoto

Dunno much about this guy, but I like. Sasaki Mokoto (b. 1971) is a Japanese photographer whose latest work titled “Tokyo Layers” involves shooting the city at night while in motion and using multiple exposures and the results are refreshingly new.

I hope that we get a feel of the fact that we are living in passage of time and also the individual life, city and society are formed by accumulation of time from an unusual viewpoint once again.

Ghosts of Gemini

Ghosts of Gemini

NASA have recently released several photos from their archives, taken during the flights of Gemini, the often overlooked tech testing phase that took place between the Mercury and the Apollo space program.

One haunting image in particular is that of doomed astronaut Ed White wrapped in shadows and looking uncannily like Brad Pitt for some reason (looked nothing like him in general). Anyhow, the rest of the images can be found here.

3 Things: tumblrs

Realising that the majority of recent posts are mostly video related; here are some tumblr sites for something different.

At least I’m starting to ‘annotate’ some of this stuff too.

Faroe Islands

The Faroe Islands are an island group consisting of 18 major islands about 655 kilometres (407 mi) off the coast of Northern Europe, between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, about halfway between Iceland and Norway, the closest neighbours being the Northern and Western Isles of Scotland.

2011 in photos (part 1)

Boston.com’s The Big Picture has finally started the first of their end of year round up pictures and as always, it’s great and you should check it out.

Mt Rainier’s Shadow

That there is an image take of the volcano Mt Rainier at sunset.

Standing at 4300 meters above Boulder, Colorado, it’s the only mountain in the area and on this particular day, cast this amazing shadow against the clouds. It’s a beautiful image and quite surreal, but I love it more for the fact that it gives the impression of a larger scale to the world on a very simple, yet natural level.
