Elmo De Niro

Always loved the muppets. Like total man love. And always found it amusing that Jim Henson and all were hippies and that there was a rumor that when they went to England to produce the muppets, they hid copious amounts of drugs in their puppets’ eyeballs. Amusing, but after watching this video, I suddenly realized how wacked out it must be for a hippie to see talking puppets on screen. Hell, right now I’m sober and I don’t do drugs, but watching this video, I’m totally tripping balls.

Shoot Em Up Stuff and Thumb Club

New red band trailer for Shoot ‘Em Up is online at the official website or you can just watch the Youtube version here. You’ll have to go through a whole age verification for it, but it’s worth it for the awesomeness that is Clive Owen and Paul Giamatti. Hell, theres a clip thats from the opening of Clive Owen delivering a baby, while shooting up a whole wharehouse full of bad guys. Ridiculously over the top fun.

In fact it’s so over the top, here is a clip where Owen and Monica Belluci are getting it on and even if they get interrupted by some more bad guys, don’t matter to Clive, they keep having sex and he keeps shooting people. Awesome.

Also, new red band trailer for Beowulf, which is just looking more and more scarily realistic, yet fake at the same time.

And Finally, a video which I was at first going meh, another fight club reproduction by over zealous fans, but hell, its still amusing and its rather scary at times at what lengths they went to reproduce the lighting and imagery of the original film.

Cure for Pain

Not long after posting last night, I went to go to bed and on cue, the same throbbing pain came along. So it wasn’t long till another trip to the emergency center where I had to wait an excruciating period of time for a nurse first, then the doctor, then a much needed pain killer med that felt so good.

For the last few nights I’ve been getting so little sleep and being kept up by such irritating pain, I was just exhausted at that point. Once the pain subsided, lying down became a priority and I simply fell asleep there on the clinic bed and out cold.

Very strange feeling to have slept soundlessly for so long and to wake up in a strange room with a doctor looming over you. I wonder if it was anything like how someone feels after having an emergency or accident and suddenly being in a hospital or something similar. Bah, nothing at all I’m sure. I knew where I was prior to sleeping, but the feeling of waking up somewhere strange and not yet knowing where you are, yeah, always awesome that.

Anyway, the doctor last night was a lot more open eared and actually perscribbed some proper meds for me. So far they’re working, but I can still feel a bit of the painful sensation every now and again, even if I’m not feeling the pain, I can still feel what I know would be painful if I didn’t have any good old pain meds.

Anyway, sleep then a fresh class of students to teach tomorrow afternoon. Arrangements with its current owner and I should be owning said piano on Sunday. Awesome.

Bad Sleep and Retail Therapy

So I bought a piano this morning. Will have to move stuff and make space for it, but hey, I bought a piano and it will be awesome because I miss having one to play and practice on.

But last night had me taking a trip to A&E and pumped full of painkillers and anti-inflammatory for one major nasty headache/migraine/pulsating head ouch that was keeping me up all night and wouldn’t let up and let me sleep. People reckoned it was just a migraine, but for one who’s never had one, let alone know what one feels like, it’s hard to say. Acutally, thinking on that, I sometimes don’t even know what a headache really is. Okay, I know what a headache is, but sometimes, when its happening, I’m not sure if I’m having a headache or just tired or whatever. Some people suffer a lot from headaches and migraines, but is their headache the same as my headache? Or do I also get headaches a lot, but just write them off as nothing and something normal I just feel all the time? Why am I writing such mindless blabber of airheaded thinking? I’ll blame the painkillers. That and the awesome.

I need sleep.

Long Weekend and Crazy Dreams

Filming went quite well this weekend, all in one location and all in one room, we shot for two long days, both times I turned up slightly late, but in the end, we got some really good footage and director Michelle seems pretty happy with it so far.

Saturday night was a wierd one though, I was pretty much exhausted from all the prepping and filming and adjusting and what not, that I actually fell asleep before midnight for the first time in… well a while. But then I woke up at three in the morning and just couldn’t get back to sleep, or so it seemed. I did wake up in the morning, or at least, I think I woke up in the morning. The only explanation was that I was dreaming about being awake and not being able to go back to sleep. Over the course of the day, it turned out that Michelle had also experienced this the night before and thus, kind of a get out of jail for free card for my being late that morning.

But next weekend is more filming somewhere else I’m still not to sure about where. There’s also the masquerade ball I’m to attend and film stuff of, but really, it’s just an excuse for me to dress up all fancy, wear a mask and be all swanky.

All That Time, Still Got Nothing

Man, the growing pressure of keeping this blog updated, I’m again getting messages that I haven’t updated it in a while and yeah, I’ll admit I’ve been lazy and not keeping up with it, but really, since the last post, next to nothing exciting has happened to me. For the last week I’ve been working everyday for long hours and with nothing much in between. Just coming off a few days off where I’ve basically locked myself in my room, played games and movies and basically tried to ignore the world for a few days. Which for the most of it, worked to a degree, but also I discovered emails and social networking messages can pile up quite quickly.

Anyway, for the next few weekends, I’ll be DPing on that Wintec short film that I was asked about nearly at the start of this year and have been planning ever since in between, which included a test shoot that turned out disastrously bad for my mental health and some minor run ins with the heads at Wintec, cause I’m just annoying like that. But yeah, all to be seen.

Meanwhile, some congrats should be mentioned… friend Ross is heading down to Wellington this weekend? Or was it next weekend? I dunno… hell, either way, he’s one of the shortlisted competitor for the… oh great, I forgotten what its called, the um… writer’s initiative? No? Well, either way, it’s a big thing that for some reason I’ve suddenly forgotten what its called, but its totally awesome and all the best of luck to him and his inhumanly creative brain.

And friend Arthur is heading down to Wellington as well in October to attend some student journalism award ceremony for his articles in the Waikato Uni’s Nexus magazine. I’ll possibly be going down with him just to have a weekend away and just get drunk and hobnob the night away. Possibly.

Anyway, hell, that’s all I’ve got for now. Tomorrow is another day of work and as much as I’d like to think that’ll be something to blog about, instead you can have two videos of hilarity…

First, this lady’s answer is just so smart, it makes Einstein look like a douchebag…

And second, something I’d actually love to see in real life, a business meeting, conducted like it were an online message board or something equally trivial.

Wedding, Babies and Lots of Drinking

Yep, slackness in the posting, but I’ve been working a lot again or still, to have enough money next month for a wintec shoot coming up. Actually, the shoot already started on Saturday and got off to a good start. But the schedule is broken down into weekends only, which for me, means a little work in staying consistent in both energy and levels of creativity. But still, I’m looking forward to it.

But let’s see, Saturday night we held a party shindig for flatmate Fabian’s Birthday at the flat and it was pretty cool. Did a lot of setting up of lights and gels beforehand and it was most pretty and a good night overall. Good people were there, lots of drinking to be had and good friend Daisy and Sean came on down from Auckland to drink with, and that made me happy. So did the cute girl on lap, who’s finally getting a mention on this blog.

Then Sunday was old friend Tim’s wedding to his lady Irene and that was a really great lowkey ceremony. Best of all from it was I got to witness quite possibly the best choice of a wedding song ever… Spice Girls… uh… what the hell do you call that song? ziggazigah? Or whatever the hell it is, that, “if you wanna be ma lover” bollocks. Bad song, but that being played for her walk down the aisle, was fried gold.

And also to mention an eeeeeh! to Nick and Sarah for finally giving birth to their way too cute son whom they’ve been keeping track of the pregnancy here, but its still awaiting the cuteness of photos to come. And not to mention last, Dan and Ester, who are in the UK, they too had a baby girl Maddy (did I spell that right?). Everyone is just growing up, aren’t they?

And as for photos, here are some favourites from the party courtesy of the immaculate Petra Jane. There were other people with cameras there, but I’ve yet to track them down. Stupid drinking… actually the photos are all with me, cause I’m a whore for the camera like that. In front and behind.

Technology Hates Me

What a week. Been working a nauseating amount of hours recently cause I’m going to need the extra cash once I start working on this upcoming wintec shoot next month. Why do I allow my time and precious energy to be used on so many other people’s projects? Meh, guess I’m just a delicous whore like that.

Today was a bit of the worst where a long shift, was nicely rewarded with a trip to the liquor store and a stop off at friend Ross’ house, but upon leaving, I discovered that my car once again conspires against me and decided to first decide that the battery was flat, and then not flat and then turn back on the alarm system which it turned off a couple of months ago, thus immobolising my car with an immoboliser I did not even know existed until this very evening. Which all resulted in me waiting on the roadside for an ungodly ammount of time for the AA fella to turn up.

But been watching a large quantity of films again, which I’m happy to say relishing in doing so once more. That, as opposed to watching them as a chore. Those last two sentences rhymed. It’s way past my bedtime. Let’s hope I don’t keep rhyming no more.

Okay, that was a little wierd. I do need sleep, but I’ve also got to prepare for my class tomorrow, a rehearsal for a scene and two film festival movies to watch. Yes, the Hamilton run has finally started and it’s a very sexy line up. Much to look forward to.

Sigh…

After several weeks of drinking, today shall mark the start of a sober week. Not to say that I’ve been drinking to binge Peckinpah levels, but I’ve been having at least a few drinks every night, either socially or unsoicailly. So what to do in this situation? Check out the trailer for Michel Gondry’s new film Be Kind Rewind here.

Or even better, watch a video on models falling on the catwalk.

Jesus Camp and Minesweeper

And have just finished watching Jesus Camp. My tagline for this movie is “It’ll make you say JESUS!!”. I mean, seriously, you know those scenes in films where someone or something is happening and everyone else can’t believe it’s happening and all they can do is stare with their mouth wide open and completely frozen in whatever their doing? Yeah, I was doing that quite a bit through the whole damn thing, but I also beat that super computer robot at his own game of chess at the same time. I’m too good. But yeah, do check it out at the film fest if you can. Hell, I’m tempted to go just to see how out there the reactions may or may not be.

Anyway, here’s Minesweeper… THE MOVIE!
