Update of Boredom

Taken up reading the news a lot recently. Well more than normal. Don’t know why though. Sometimes, it just gets so depressing. I remember one time my mother kept encouraging me to start reading the news and within the first week of doing so, it was nothing but hurricanes, flash floods, war, disease, death, murder… by the second week, I had pretty much had my fill of it.

Today’s though… drowned puppies and a severed foot discovery.

Slightly more interesting, but still depressing.

Whoever Invented Rope Is an A-Hole

Everytime I keep opening up a blogger window to write something and nothing really comes to mind worth blogging about. Which is a pity, because I really do enjoy blogging, but its just been one of those dull weeks.

Actually, not so dull, got to see an advanced screening of The Darjeeling Limited and being such a Wes Anderson whore, I was totally on that like a pedo to a playground. Was an excellent film, quite different from his others, still no Tenenbaum or Rushmore, but I still liked it. The problem is if asked why exactly, I can’t quite tell you. There are a lot of excellent aspects to it and one of the most hilarious meta reference filled opening scenes ever, and Adrien Brody is just amazing as always, but yeah… something was a little off about it, but not in a bad way. Just unnerving like that guy that just wont stare at you, but maybe he’s just crazy in the head. Knock it off grandpa.

But yeah, Christmas is coming up and I’ve yet to do any shopping for it. New Years will begin the wedding season for me where I attend three or four weddings in the space of two weeks and lots of drinking in between it all. Hooray!

Staying Consistent With Posting…

Just got home from an intense 9+ hour game of Risk. Tired. Slightly ill. Sleep good.

Voodoo Robot Power

Oh yeah, lots of time has gone since the last post. Since then, I’ve opened and closed my blogger window with a lot of half written entries that I just kept thinking weren’t worth blogging about at the time. But now that time has gone by, this is just gonna be a post about a whole bunch of things that’ll take me some time to remember about…

Over one weekend I was in Auckland to film a fashion show. Interesting new experience and topped off with shooting an impromptu music video and seeing a whole bunch of people from South Seas I’d not seen since leaving last year.

Since then, I’ve been resting, drinking, working and sleeping back in Hamilton. Caught up with some more people I’d not seen in a while. Watched a few movies too. Just had a screening of the wintec shorts I’d helped out on this year, although the one I had served as DOP on was half over by the time I’d gotten there… whoops. Guess I’ll have to wait for the DVD.

Another day I was woken up by a phone call from a friend in need. Now I’ve been woken up for many reasons, ranging from suicides to emergency pickups and they can all quite exciting, cause… well, they can and I find it amusing sometime to be woken up by a phone call in the middle of the night. But never have I been called up and out of bed to play in a game of cricket. That was just random and definitely a first for me.

Acting in a short film in a few weeks and I’ve not really organised or prepared myself as much for it yet, which I should. Actually, I should also contact the director about all of that too. Been a while since I’ve been organised about anything really, but reckon he’d like to know sometime. Actually, he’ll probably read it here first as I’m currently at work and without email at the moment.

Party coming up this Saturday, stag do to be attended sometime soon as well… Hrmmm… that’s all I can recall now. Been feeling pretty tired today and for the last few weeks, been having the urge to quit my job, find some film work up in Auckland while still living in Hamilton, which is a good feeling and something I should actually act on sooner rather than later.

Also been thinking of shaving, but that’s still a half thought.

Tough Like The Ukelele

One of these days I’m gonna remember to drive to auckland a little earlier than I plan myself to. Not that I was late in coming up yesterday, amazingly, I turned up on time, early in fact. But along the way, I had to abandon the idea of stopping off in Pokeno for some kick ass Pokeno ice cream.

Everytime I drive between Auckland or Hamilton, it’s either late at night or on a tight schedule where I would have no time. I just seem to keep remembering tending to stop off there as a kid and eating some totally awesome ice cream, and my growing fear is that one day I’ll finally manage to stop in one day and it’ll be too late and the two shops side by side that sell competing ice cream will be closed. That and it’ll be filled with zombies.

Anyway, as it turns out the workload on this job is far easier for me and I’m having fun not having to stress outside of whatever the job is. Last night was a rehearsal for the show that seemed to take far longer than it should have, well not really, as it was a dress rehearsal, but jaysis, the jokes and stereotypes of the awesome intellect of models is pretty close to true. Aparently its tough not to walk out of the light on stage and to walk in a circle or straight line or whatever they’re asked. But maybe I’m being rough, my standards of tough are based on how I can disarm bombs with my teeth and shoot down choppers with rocks. Manly!

Well, about to make an impromptu music video for King Kapisi, cause that’s what you do, then work on this fashion thingee and afterwards meet up with people for more drinking. Awesome.

Update Your Goddamn Blog!

Or so I keep hearing.

Been one of those weeks of busy. Actually, really busy. Still is sorta busy, but compared to the last several days, its all now a cake walk. And really, its not that hard to post something on here, I’ve just been lazy.

But lets see… got a new ipod which I’ve always been semi hesitant about, but caved because my current mp3 player had turned to shite and is now worth more as a paperweight. The ipod is great and I’ve always suspected as much, but I still hate itunes with a passion, but found an alternative program, so all is well in the universe.

About to head up to Auckland. It’s for work, but really, it just fits in quite perfectly with my drinking schedule this weekend… te he.

But yeah, rather than drabble on about nothing of consequence, but still feeling ashamed I’ve not posted anything in a while. Here’s a bear riding a bicycle.

So I’ve had this blog entry window open for several days now with half an entry filled in, but just haven’t gotten around to finishing it or posting anything throughout the whole week. Been busy with work and more work and all sorts and only now I’m starting to get some down time, so this is now a quick recap post instead.

Went to the Down by the Riverside premiere screening on the Friday which was very good and a nice audience to watch a premiere with. Funny seeing a feature made by friends in the same cinema we watched each other’s uni projects in several years earlier.

Caught the cast and crew screening of Pictures of You which was also an interesting experience to see it put together, but I’ve still got notes on certain aspects that still need tinkering and fixing up.

The rest of the time since then, I’ve been working every night and then working some more on an editing job, which hopefully, will come to a close today and thus leaving me the weekend to get very, very drunk indeed.

But anyway, that’s probably the quickest weekly recap post ever, here are some youtube videos of awesome…

Funny Cat Animation

Proof that Americans are NOT stupid…

…and the coolest of the cool, 100 numbers from 100 movies…

…out.

The Alphonse Mambo

Caught the stage production of Chicago over the weekend. Some good stuff and thoroughly enjoyable. Had some also enjoyable drinks afterwards, just to complement the weekend, which has also been quite the enjoyable weekend. Apart from having to work. That was much less enjoyable.

But what else is enjoyable? Music video to Jon Brion’s Knock Yourself Out from I Heart Huckabees. Love your Marky Mark.

Not to forget to remind, vote for Roz’s yellow pages entry if you haven’t yet and clear your schedule this Friday for the Down By The Riverside premiere screening.

All Hail West Texas

So had one of the best times in a while now back up in Auckland.

Finished up filming work at about four and spent an hour trying to navigate traffic to drop off gear and find the hotel I’d be staying at. Getting into friend’s room, I find it’s on the 24th floor with a great view, but again. 24 fucking floors up. Heights are dealable with most of the time, but I was tired and strung out and kinda lost the ability to form reasonable thinking for five seconds.

But all was well once back on the ground and watched the greatness that is Easter Promises. One of my top contenders for best film of the year and with one of the most intense scenes ever. Ever ever. Whats tough is I will go on and on about how great and amazing the film is to people and when they go “whats it about?” I really can’t say anything more to that, this is one of those films I can’t say anything about and it should just be watched.

But anyway, after the movie, there was much awesome meeting up of many people from the South Seas days and many a more drinking to be had after that. Really awesome to see everyone again, not so awesome the hangover in the morning. But I’m hoping to do it again real soon. Hopefully with more people, with midgets and pandas wearing burglar masks. That’d be sweet.

Hasty Morning Post

Sitting and waiting to go with some others to go to a gig in Auckland today. I was like the last to wake up and first to wait. Which means my lack of needing stuff and hobo trainning has paid off. Or I’m just easy. Whatever.

But tonight should see some drinking going on and meeting up of people I’ve not seen in a while. And more drinking. Hopefully.

And tomorrow night will be Chicago in Te Aroha. With more drinking as well.

Awesome.
