On my never-ending quest to procrastinate actual work and things that need doing, I’ve been organising and freeing up my way too full hard-drives. Of course, I could have been writing or doing something productive while waiting for files to burn to discs, but meh… you get more internet stuff and I get to close some tabs.
One of the most random flash animations I’ve seen in a while called Michael Fantasy.
One of the most random series of photos on some guys blog post called Today is the Day.
So along with not smoking (two weeks now), I’m attempting to spend August on not buying things. Well, non-essential things. Last month turned out to be quite the spend spree for me with four to five trips back and forth from Auckland, the watching of many movies and buying of many many DVDs and books. Hell, I’ve still got about fifteen to twenty ordered from amazon and ebay shipped in from overseas (and overseas shipping sucks these days). So yeah, the rest of the month is dedicated to spending only on bills and food. And not junk food either seeing as I’m also trying this whole ‘healthy thing’ now. Something that would make “2007 Chris Tan” sick.
So that kinda leaves August with the cause to finish reading and watching all the books and DVDs I’ve bought and borrowed rather than stockpiling them like a cultural nuclear winter is on the horizon, which of course is bollocks as we all know the no-culture stupid virus already hit us during the mid 90s.
Oh and part of not buying ‘non-essentials’ includes the buying of alcohol. You’d think this would be something horribly drastic and a little bit of a stretch for me, but no. With how much I’ve stockpiled of that and reserved. Big no.
So yeah, that’s about it. Here’s a video/article on the blowing up of a WW2 bomb in London. Awesome.
And I’m late on this, but this is a super cool video series by this guy and his site Where The Hell is Matt? and it’s smile inducingly great.
Posting to this blog is sometimes like showering and eating and sleeping for me, I keep forgetting when the last time was and when I should be doing the next one. Actually, add laundry, haircuts, bill payments, rent payments and the expiry dates on bought foods. Ah well.
Anyway, I’ve been busy obviously. The last of the film festival was great catching two out of three planned films plus the IMAX of Dark Knight, which was just as awesome on the second viewing and I could honestly go a third time and not care of the cost or anything else. It’s that awesome.
But the crazy storm season of the last week is starting to go away, Dr. Ezy is having his birthday bash tonight, I’m coming up two weeks of not smoking (bar a couple I had last week while playing poker) and generally, everything is alright.
Oh, one suck incident is that I found out at the last minute and missed out on attending a Mark Kozelek (of Red House Painters and Sun Kil Moon) concert at the King’s Arms in Auckland. First the Mountain Goats cancel and then God tricks me into setting up an awesome gig the first weekend I’m not in Auckland after being up a retarded monkey’s nosepicking number of times. Thanks God. I’m gonna crank call you later.
Oh, but here’s a video to cheer anyone up. Plus this, or this, or this, or this.
Praise Science, Apollo astronaut Edgar Mitchell was on some radio show and stated that aliens are real and have made contact and goverments have covered it up but are slowly leaking it out now. Bunch of crazy talk. But awesome crazy talk and one I hope is real. I constantly fear the eventual robot take-over that is so going to happen soon, but with this news, we can look to our alien overlords to protect us. Some write ups on it here and the interview itself here.
Oh and further space sciene awesomeness… NASA wants to push forward the exploration and effects of sex in space. I’ve long put aside my dreams of wanting to be an astronaut years ago, but with this news I’m starting my trainning of lifting weights and dodging robot lasers today and signing up. Full read here.
Woke up this morning to find out winter isn’t quite over yet and the cold is a bitch. It’s a bit of a hot topic that there’s a pretty severe storm going on this weekend, I’m not sure what the details are exactly, but all I know is that it’s suddenly really cold and wet and I’m just about to head up to Auckland where it’s apparently worse.
Helped film the video for the Boy’s High band “The Evergreens” and it went good and the footage looks nice and thankfully I’m not editing any of it. Well, not yet anyway.
Right, so I better head off now, weather is shit but manageable, but I just want to make it up before it gets too dark and cause some crazy driving. If karma is on my side, I’ll get to see at least three festival films and the sweet Dark Knight again on IMAX. So awesome.
So Dark Knight? It was totally awesome. Nuff said. All should go watch it, I’m gonna be going again this weekend for the IMAX version. I love you Batman. Why wont you answer my calls?
This Saturday I’m helping shoot a video for a band from Hamilton Boy’s High to be put forward with their application in the Smokefree Rockquest. I forget what their band is called, but they sound great and it’ll be fun. I hope.
And speaking of smokefree, yes, I still am much to my own amazement as well as everyone elses. It’s now coming into the fifth day and I’ve not had a single cigarette despite all the usual times of having a good puff from driving, to after a sweet awesome meal to taking breaks at a shitty shit filled job to hanging around other smokers smoking away and very much so enjoying it. Five days now. I should get a medal.
And… I have nothing else to report. I had things to say, been thinking all day about saying them, but have simply come up blank on what it was to be about. Oh well.
Here’s an article on incressed UFO sightings in Britan.
And a great re-subtitled video of Downfall that me and my film buddies are having a great laugh over. There seems to be a lot of different versions of this concept from problems with Windows Vista to xbox 360 issues, but this one is my favourite.
flatmate: You’re up early. me: Only one reason for it. flatmate: What’s that? me: Batman.
So I kinda disappeared from this blog and from the internet for a while, but things have been happening either way. Was pretty down last week for reasons I wasn’t sure about, but starting this week I quit smoking and its now my fourth day. Only just recently announced to people this yesterday and so far the responses have been a lot of ‘good for yous’ and ‘you’ll live longer’ and though the sentiments and meanings are nice, I’m like, really? I’m not going to become a non-smoker. Just someone that doesn’t smoke anymore. I hated the whiny “ew, thats so bad for you” or “you should quit” blah blah blahs I got as a smoker and by God I’ll never be one to say that to a smoker ever, even if I feel a thousand times better and healthier and blah blah blah.
This has been a bit of a rushed post but I’ll do a proper one after the movie, which I should really get going to now. Hope all are well out there. Batman is my aeroplane.
Great weekend of seeing people, hanging out and watching movies. Yay for the film festival. Didn’t get to see as many as I had hoped to, but what I have so far was sweet awesome.
Came back to Hamilton about seven in the morning today tired and in need of sleep and then slept and then worked and now I’m heading back up tonight to work on a commercial of some kind I’m still not to sure what the details are exactly.
But yes, quite tired and still a long week ahead so oh well.
